Hi Everyone
How are things in good old Ontario. Sorry this the first post but there has been difficulty here around Internet access. Anyway enough of that. Everyone in the group is well and are beginning to aculturate to the French lifestyle. We have been to Paris and seen the sights and walked through the Latin Quater and along the Seine where we also took a cruise. Many of the students went to Versailles with Mrs. Hamilton while the others went shopping at Gucci and Vuitton.
We have been to see Vimy Ridge and although the monument was closed for renovation the students where able to visit the trenches and the cemetary. Today we visited the Juno beach and the Canadian cememetary at Beny-Sur- Mer and the Juno beach Centre. We were welcomed there by Canadian guides and given the special treatment and a tour of the musuem there.
Arromanche, now a quaint seaside town was the site of our lunch. On D-day, June 6,1944 it was the site of the development of the largest harbour in the world as the allies built an artificial harbour here. The ruins of the harbour still exist and we sat and ate in close proximity. I sat by the sea and ate wood oven 4 cheese pizza with students and Chaperone Paul D.
Tommorrow we return to Paris to visit the Louvre after viewing the town of Joan of Arc.
So we will be on an overnight train to Florence tommorow night I will put up more images when I can from Italy. Caio for now.
